Comment

The Patriarchate of Aquileia or Patria del Friuli was an ecclesiastical state of the Holy Roman Empire located in north east Italy, between Venice and Trieste. It existed from 1077 until 1433, when it was annexed by the Republic of Venice.

Weight varies from 0,8 to 1,2 grams. Diameter varies from 20 millimeters to 22. The eagle is similar to the one on the Federico II augustalis.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during the reign of Gregory of Montelongo, who was the Patriarch of Aquileia from 1251 to 1269. The Patriarchate of Aquileia was a powerful ecclesiastical state in the northwestern part of the Italian peninsula, and its coins were widely used in trade and commerce during that time.
