Comment

Known as Écu Philippe (French).

The subtypes of the Philipsdaalder are distinguished by the use of different terms in Philip's titles obverse: ANG (1557-1558), PHILIPPVS without ANG (1561), PHS without ANG (1572-1576)

vdChijs2 differentiates based on obverse legend as well, but differentiates a bit further:
Plate XXV 13 - With inner circle, poor engraving
Plate XXV 14 - Without inner circle

Interesting fact

The "Philipsdaalder" coin was used as a means of payment in the Dutch States during a time of great economic and political change, as the region was transitioning from a feudal society to a capitalist one.
