Also known as a Zonnekroon (Dutch) or Couronne au soleil (French).Van der Chijs and de Witte mention that the original decree of October 29, 1540 authorizing this type valued it at 36 stuivers. As the gold: silver ratio changed during Charles' reign, the valuation in stuivers increased. Van Gelder and Hoc have it at 42 stuivers across all parts of the Spanish Netherlands.
