Van der Chijs and de Witte mention that the original decree of October 29, 1540 authorizing this type valued it at 36 stuivers. As the gold: silver ratio changed during Charles' reign, the valuation in stuivers increased. Van Gelder and Hoc have it at 42 stuivers across all parts of the Spanish Netherlands.
