The coin is legal tender in Gibraltar and it was produced in partnership with the Samlerhurset Group with Tower Mint as the minting company.

The coins marks 80 years since the plane crash of Lieutenant General Wladyslaw Sikorski in 1943. Sikorski’s Liberator II crashed off Gibraltar almost immediately after take-off on 4th July 1943.
