The 1999 Gibraltar 1 Crown coin featuring Winston Churchill is unique in that it was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Churchill's birth, and it is one of the few coins that have been issued by Gibraltar that do not feature the standard portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. Instead, the coin features a portrait of Churchill, who played a significant role in Gibraltar's history during World War II.
