Trojan WarTrojan War had started by the Greeks after Paris of Troy abducted Helen married to Menelaus, the king of Sparta. The story the war was narrated in Homer's "Iliad" and many other works of Greek literature and folklore. The Trojan War was considered to be just a part of Greek mythology until the discovery of Troy by German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann in late XIX century in what is now Turkey. The excavation of Troy had yielded the remnants of the citadel with evidence of siege and destruction of the city, and very rich stash of gold and other artifacts collectively known as Priam's Treasure.
