Comment

This coin depicts the paddle steamer Mona's Queen II which served with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company from 1885 to 1929. The portrait on the reverse depicts Captain William Cain who captained the vessel when it served as a troop transport during the First World War and famously collided with a German U-boat.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1982 Isle of Man 1 Crown coin is that it features a unique portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by sculptor Arnold Machin, which was specifically created for the coin and has not been used on any other currency.
