Comment

The link between the Bounty and the Isle of Man is threefold. William Bligh was married to a native of the island, Fletcher Christian (the subject of the portrait on the reverse) was from a branch of a Manx family, and Peter Heywood, born in the Isle of Man, was a young officer at the time of the mutiny, left in Tahiti, was trialed, condemned and pardoned for his limited participation.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1982 Isle of Man 1 Crown coin featuring H.M.S. Bounty is that it was issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the ship's historic voyage, during which it was used to transport breadfruit plants from Tahiti to the West Indies. The coin's design features a depiction of the ship on one side and Queen Elizabeth II on the other, making it a unique and collectible piece for both numismatists and maritime history enthusiasts.
