Comment

The Battle of Hafrsfjord (Norwegian: Slaget i Hafrsfjord) was a naval battle fought in Hafrsfjord sometime between 872 and 900 that resulted in the unification of Norway, later known as the Kingdom of Norway. After the battle, the victorious Viking chief Harald Fairhair proclaimed himself the first king of the Norwegians, merging several petty kingdoms under a single monarch for the first time.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Non-circulating coin 1 Crown - Elizabeth II (Battle of Hafrsfjord) 2017 from Isle of Man (British Crown dependencies) made of Silver plated copper-nickel weighing 28.28 g is that it commemorates the 1,000th anniversary of the Battle of Hafrsfjord, which took place in Norway in 1066. The battle was a significant event in the history of Norway and marked the beginning of the reign of King Harald Hardrada, who would later go on to play a major role in the Norman Conquest of England. The coin's design features an image of King Harald Hardrada on horseback, with the battle scene depicted in the background.
