Comment

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, chief of staff during Biafra's brief independence 1967-1970. A portion of Eastern Nigeria is home largely to members of the Ibo tribe. This area seceded from Nigeria in 1967 and began a war against the federal government of Nigeria that lasted almost three years and claimed over 2,000,000 lives in that period. Biafra surrendered to the government on January 15, 1970, thus ending the brief, and bloody war.
