Comment

Urraca was an indian chief from the Province of Veraguas, who fought the Spaniards in Panamá between 1520 and 1531. The arc of 9 stars represent the 9 provinces of Panamá at that time (today 10).

Since its separation from Colombia in 1903, Panama has used the United States Dollar. These coins have the same specifications as the and circulated alongside it.

Interesting fact

The 1 Centésimo coin was designed by Panamanian artist and sculptor, José de Creeft, and features a portrait of Panama's first president, Arnulfo Arias Madrid, on the obverse side.
