Comment
Very rare pattern depicting Henri Christophe in full military uniform. Commissioned in England per Lissade's recent research, as were the patterns of finer style dated 1808, thus probably produced at the Birmingham mint. The obverse legend UNE CENTIEME (de Gourde) or ONE HUNDREDTH (of a Gourde) is an unusual alternative spelling of the more common UN CENTIME instead of an error as often stated.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Pattern 1 Centime (Essai) 1807 from Haiti is that it was designed by the French engraver, Jean-Baptiste Mercier, who was also responsible for creating the coin's dies. This coin is considered a rare and valuable piece among numismatists due to its historical significance and limited mintage.
