The directive from the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) which requested the creation of the coin stated the figure were to be stamped on the obverse of the coin. Numista, however, to keep order in its database prefers to show the figure as stamped on the reverse.

Interesting fact

The 1 Centavo coin from Brazil features an image of a cowboy on horseback, which is why it's commonly referred to as the "Cowboy Coin." This design was chosen to represent the country's rich agricultural history and the importance of cattle ranching in Brazil's economy.
