Comment
The reverse die of KM59 was modified from the reverse die of 10 centavos KM49. UN is over 10; the small liberty head was retained, and the s at the end of the denomination was retained.Despite the monetary law of 1879, these coins weighed 3g rather than 4.5g.
Interesting fact
The 1 Centavo coin from Honduras, made of Copper and weighing 3 grams, is interesting because it was produced during a time of economic and political change in the country. In the late 19th century, Honduras was facing economic challenges, including a large national debt and a lack of stable currency. The government decided to introduce a new currency, the peso, which was divided into 100 centavos. The 1 Centavo coin was part of this new currency system and was used widely in everyday transactions. Despite its small denomination, the coin played an important role in the economy of Honduras during this time.
