Interesting fact
The Pattern 1 Cent coin was designed by Dutch artist and sculptor, Johannes Hendrikus (Hans) Muller, who was commissioned by the Dutch government to create a new design for the 1 cent coin in 1944. The coin features a portrait of Queen Wilhelmina on the obverse side and a pattern of leaves and flowers on the reverse side. The coin was never officially released into circulation, but a small number of pattern coins were produced and distributed to collectors and numismatists. Today, the Pattern 1 Cent - Wilhelmina (Pattern) ND (1944-1945) is considered a rare and valuable collector's item, with some examples selling for thousands of dollars at auction.
