Interesting fact
The 1997-2003 Canadian 1-cent coin was the last coin to feature the traditional copper penny design before it was discontinued and replaced with a copper-plated steel version in 2004. This change was made to reduce the cost of producing pennies, as the price of copper had increased significantly in recent years.
