One interesting fact about the 1 Cent - Elizabeth II (1st portrait) 1959-1969 from Seychelles is that it was the first coin to feature the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side, which was a departure from the previous coinage that featured the image of King George VI. This change was made to reflect the transition from a British colony to a republic within the Commonwealth.
