Interesting fact
The 1 Cent 1862 coin from Liberia was designed by the American architect and engineer, Joseph Whited. He was responsible for designing many of the coins minted during Liberia's early years, and his designs often featured images of Liberian leaders and symbols of the country's rich natural resources. In the case of the 1 Cent 1862 coin, it features a portrait of Liberia's first president, Joseph Jenkins Roberts, on one side, and an image of a Liberian rubber tree on the other. This coin was minted during a time when Liberia was still a young nation, and it played an important role in the country's early economic development.
