Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Pattern 1 Cent "1896" coin is that it was designed by Charles E. Barber, who was the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint at the time. Barber's design features a depiction of Lady Liberty on the obverse (front) side of the coin, and a wreath surrounding the number "1" on the reverse (back) side. The coin was minted in nickel, which was a departure from the traditional copper or silver used in previous 1 cent coins, and it was also the first U.S. coin to feature a magnetic composition. This unique combination of design and materials made the Pattern 1 Cent "1896" a distinctive and highly sought-after collector's item.
