Pieces dated 1978 with a diameter of 25 mm can be found. These were originally listed by Krause as patterns, but have since been determined to be probable fantasy pieces of unknown origin. Aside from the difference in size and while attractive in appearance, the engraving is cruder than on real coins.Interesting fact
The 1 Cent coin from Sri Lanka was designed by sculptor and artist, Deshamanya H.M. Nandalal Weerasinghe, who was also responsible for designing several other coins and currency for Sri Lanka.
