Comment

This type is often attibuted to Ferghana, but there were at least five spot-find of this type in the Chach oasis. Either Chach or Ferghana are possible, with Chach seeming more likely.

The dating on this type is said to be from the first half of the 8th century.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during the reign of the Tang Dynasty in China, which was a time of significant cultural and economic exchange between China and other regions, including Sogdiana. The coin's design and inscriptions reflect the blending of Chinese and Sogdian cultures, with the obverse featuring a Chinese-style dragon and the reverse bearing an inscription in the Sogdian language. This coin is a unique example of the cultural exchange that took place during this period and provides valuable insight into the economic and political ties between different regions of the ancient world.
