Comment

Nawabs of Arcot ruled Central Tamilnadu as independent rulers from 1720s till 1801. The "fish" type large coins were probably minted between 1730 and 1744 during the reign of Dost Ali Nawab (1732-40) and his diwan Chanda Sahib.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during the reign of Nawab Muhammad Anwaruddin Khan (1730-1744), who was known for his efforts to promote trade and commerce in the region. The coin features a unique blend of Islamic and Hindu motifs, reflecting the cultural diversity of the Nawabdom of the Carnatic.
