Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during a time of great turmoil in China, known as the "Ming-Qing transition," when the Ming dynasty was overthrown by the Manchu people, who established the Qing dynasty. Despite the political upheaval, the coinage of the Southern Ming regime continued to be produced, albeit with some changes in design and materials. The Hongguang coin, in particular, was minted in the year 1644-1645, during the reign of the last Ming emperor, Emperor Yongli. It is made of brass and weighs 3.18 grams, which was a common weight for coins of that time. Despite its age, this coin remains a valuable piece of Chinese numismatic history.
