Interesting fact
The Chongzhen Tongbao coin, which was minted during the reign of the Chongzhen Emperor (1628-1644) of the Ming dynasty, was the first Chinese coin to feature a square hole in the center. This unique design was intended to make the coin easier to thread onto a string, allowing people to carry multiple coins together more conveniently.
