One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during the reign of Pope Adrian VI, who was the last non-Italian pope before the Renaissance. He was a Dutchman and his papacy was marked by efforts to reform the Catholic Church and address the challenges of the Protestant Reformation. Despite his efforts, his papacy was cut short by his early death in 1523, and this coin is a rare and valuable artifact from that brief period in history.
