Cut from a Spanish Pistareen (2 reales) into half (1 Bit, 9d) and quarter segments (½ Bit, 4½d) These pieces passed for convenience by weight, no official countermark was ever placed on these, making them hard to detect an original and easy to counterfeit.

Interesting fact

The 1 Bit coin from Barbados is unique in that it is one of the few coins in the world that has a non-round shape. Instead, it is shaped like a hexagon, which gives it a distinctive look and feel.
