Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Pattern 1 Birr - Zauditu (Pattern) 1917 (1925) from Ethiopian Empire (Ethiopia) made of Gold (.900) weighing 41.31 g is that it was designed by the Italian engraver and artist, G. V. Vespignani, who was commissioned by the Ethiopian government to create a new currency for the country. The coin features a portrait of Empress Zauditu on one side and the Ethiopian coat of arms on the other. It was minted in 1925, but it was never circulated and is now considered a rare collector's item.
