Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1 Angel - James I (2nd coinage) ND (1604-1619) coin from England is that it was one of the first coins to feature a portrait of the monarch, James I, in a more realistic and lifelike manner, rather than the traditional stylized depiction seen on earlier coins. This was a result of the work of the French engraver, Nicholas Briot, who was appointed as the Royal Engraver by James I in 1604. Briot's designs for the coinage of James I were considered to be some of the most detailed and accurate portraits of the monarch to date, and set a new standard for coin design in England.
