Comment
These are usually found struck over Austrian Maria Theresa Talers and occasionally over other foreign crowns. All Y-17s have 1367 in the center obverse. The date for each piece is located in the lower left of the reverse.Varieties exist.
Most AH1373 coins appear to be weakly struck from recut AH1372 dies, and the dates are easily confused
Interesting fact
The Ahmadi Riyal coin from the Mutawakkilite Kingdom (North Yemen) was designed by the renowned French engraver and sculptor, Albert Decaris. Decaris was known for his work on various coins and stamps for different countries, and his design for the Ahmadi Riyal coin features a portrait of King Ahmad on one side and the national emblem of Yemen on the other. The coin's design was meant to symbolize the country's rich history and cultural heritage.
