Comment

Unlike the other coins of Ganja, this type is based on a completely new standard: the Geogrian sirma-abazi standard. Within Ganja, it was only used in year 1205 (1791).

These are known as the "Georgian types" because, after Georgia gained control of the Ganja Khanate, the style of the coins changed dramatically.

This type omits the name of Karim Khan Zand (1751-1779).

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during the reign of Fath-Ali Shah Qajar, who was the second Qajarid dynasty ruler and ruled Iran from 1797 to 1834. The coin features an inscription in Persian that reads "Fath-Ali Shah Qajar, King of Kings, may God strengthen his reign" on one side, and the other side features a stylized lion and the date 1205 (1791) in the Islamic calendar. This coin is a rare and valuable example of early Qajarid coinage and is highly sought after by collectors.
