The Vishnu kundin Empire was one of the Middle kingdoms of India, controlling the Deccan, Orissa (Odisha) and parts of South India between the 5th-6th centuries, growing by the decline of the Vakataka. In 514 the area south of the Krishna River fell to the Pallavas. The Chalukya king Pulakesi II conquest the eastern Deccan. His brother Kubja Vishnuvardhana was the Viceroy. But he declared the independence, beginning the Eastern Chalukya kingdom.
