Reverse

A 4 story tower is threatened all around by waves, wind and storm. Legend around for "In Domino sperans non infirmabor".

Script: Latin

Lettering: IN DNO SPERANS NON INFIRMABOR

Translation: Trusting in the Lord I shall not be Weakened

Comment

Legend from Psalm XXV of the Bible.
The tower is an allegory of Catholicism facing the threat of reformation. The Protestants were expelled from Salzburg in 1688 by Raitenau.

Interesting fact

The ½ Thaler coin from the Bishopric of Salzburg, featuring Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau, has a unique feature - it has a hole in the center, which was used to thread a cord or chain through, allowing it to be worn as a pendant or amulet. This practice of wearing coins as talismans or charms was common in Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries, and this particular coin's design reflects that tradition.
