Interesting fact

The ⅓ Thaler coin from the Electorate of Bavaria, minted in 1640 during the reign of Maximilian I, was made of silver, but it was also one of the first coins to feature a depiction of a mythical creature - the Griffin. The Griffin was a symbol of protection and strength, and its inclusion on the coin was meant to convey the power and authority of the Bavarian state. This makes the ⅓ Thaler coin a unique and interesting piece of numismatic history.
