Comment
½ Bergtaler, minted from Westphalian fine silver, commemorates the renewal of the mines and the resumption of mining in Ramsbeck.
Made with a much finer silver than other 1/2 thalers at the time which is the reason for the light weight.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the ½ Thaler - Clemens Augus coin is that it was minted in 1759 to commemorate the renewal of the mines in the Archbishopric of Cologne, which was a significant economic event for the region. The coin's design features an image of Clemens August, the Archbishop of Cologne at the time, on one side, and an image of a miner with a pickaxe and a shield with the coat of arms of the Archbishopric on the other side. The coin was made of silver and weighs 10.8 grams.
