Interesting fact
The ¼ Stater coin from Carthage (Zeugitana) made of Gold weighing 1.9 g was used as a form of currency during the period of the Second Punic War, which was fought between Carthage and Rome from 218 to 201 BC. Despite being made of gold, this coin was not used for large transactions, but rather for small purchases and exchange. Its value was equivalent to a quarter of a standard stater, which was the main unit of currency in Carthage at the time.
