Interesting fact
The ½ Skilling coin was minted during the reign of King Gustav IV Adolf, who was only 14 years old when he ascended to the throne in 1802. Despite his young age, he was determined to reform the Swedish monetary system, which had been in disarray for many years. The ½ Skilling coin was one of the new coins introduced during his reign, and it was designed to be more durable and practical for everyday use than the previous coins. It was made of copper, which was a more affordable material than the silver or gold used in previous coins, and it was also lighter in weight, making it easier to handle and transport. Despite its humble appearance, the ½ Skilling coin played an important role in the economic development of Sweden during this time, and it remains a popular collector's item among numismatists today.
