Interesting fact

The ½ Sen coin from the Meiji 6-25 era (1873-1892) was the first coin to feature the image of the Japanese emperor, Emperor Meiji, on its obverse side. This was a significant departure from previous Japanese coins, which had traditionally featured images of gods or other mythological figures. The inclusion of the emperor's image on the coin was a symbol of the modernization and westernization of Japan during the Meiji period.
