Comment
Stephen Album notes:
“…Variant of type D (shi'ite kalima // mint & date), without the evocation ya muhammad, perhaps issued by the Turkmen opponents to Agha Muhammad, who was able to reconquer Astarabad when on route to Mashhad in AH1211, apparently unpublished.”
“ya Muhammad” is normally under the mint, which is normally under the date. This specific coin omits “ya Muhammad” and has the date above the mint.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during the reign of Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar, who was the founder of the Qajar dynasty and ruled Iran from 1789 to 1797. He was known for his military campaigns and his efforts to modernize and centralize the Iranian government. The coin's design and inscriptions reflect the cultural and religious influences of the time, and its silver content makes it a valuable collector's item for numismatists.
