Interesting fact

The ½ Real coin from Mexico, issued between 1812 and 1813, has an interesting feature. Despite being made of silver (.903), it was not minted by the official Mexican mint, but rather by the National Congress - Insurgent Coinage, which was a rebel group that emerged during the Mexican War of Independence. This coin was used as a form of currency by the insurgents to finance their fight against the Spanish colonial authorities. Its existence serves as a testament to the rich history and struggle for independence that Mexico has gone through.
