Interesting fact
The ½ Real coin from Charles II's reign (1685-1686) was minted in Segovia, Spain, and features an image of the king on one side and the Spanish coat of arms on the other. What's interesting about this coin is that it was minted during a time of economic hardship in Spain, and the silver content was actually reduced from the standard .931 to .875 in order to save on costs. Despite this, the coin still maintained its value and was widely used throughout the country.
