Comment

Due to the "Liberal Revolution" of 1871, Guatemala removed itself from the Latin Monetary Union. Real coinage was reintroduced and the Guatemalan Peso was defined as 25.4 grams of .900 silver.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the ¼ Real coin from Guatemala (1872-1878) is that it was minted during a time of significant political and economic change in the country. The coin was introduced as part of a broader effort to modernize Guatemala's currency and economy, which had been largely based on agriculture and mining. The introduction of the ¼ Real coin, which was equal to one-fourth of a real, helped to simplify transactions and increase the efficiency of commerce. Despite its small denomination, the coin played an important role in the everyday lives of Guatemalans during this period.
