Interesting fact
The ½ Öre coin featuring Gustav II Adolf 1627-1629 from Sweden was made of copper, which was a common material for coins at that time. However, what makes this coin stand out is that it was one of the first coins to feature a portrait of a king on one side and a coat of arms on the other. This design was a departure from the traditional method of featuring a coat of arms on both sides of the coin, and it paved the way for future coins to feature portraits of rulers.
