Comment

This is thought to have been issued by the landlord of the Black Horse Tavern in Victualling House Square, Tower Hill, London. It was probably a Masonic lodge at the time of the issue, kept by a brother of the craft.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Token ½ Penny (Middlesex - Freemasons) ND (1794) coin is that it was issued by a private organization, the Freemasons, rather than a government or official mint. This coin was part of a series of tokens issued by the Freemasons in the late 18th century to promote their values and ideals, and it features an image of a Masonic temple on one side and a portrait of a Freemason on the other. The coin was made of copper and has a distinctive design that sets it apart from other coins of the time. Despite its age, the coin remains a popular collector's item among numismatists and those interested in Masonic history.
