Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Token ½ Penny (Lanarkshire - Glasgow / G. Shearer) 1791 from United Kingdom is that it was issued during a time of severe currency shortages in Scotland, particularly in the western lowlands. The coin was minted by G. Shearer in Glasgow, and it's one of the few tokens issued by a private individual rather than a bank or a government. This coin is a rare example of a privately issued token that was used as a substitute for the official currency, demonstrating the resourcefulness and resilience of the people during times of economic hardship.
