Interesting fact
The Token ½ Penny 1792 from Barbados was minted during a time when the island was facing a severe shortage of British coins, which were the standard currency at the time. To address this issue, the Barbados Assembly authorized the minting of copper tokens that could be used as a substitute for the British coins. These tokens were made of copper and had a unique design, featuring a crowned effigy of King George III on one side and a vignette of a sugar cane plant on the other. The Token ½ Penny 1792 from Barbados is a rare and valuable collector's item today, with only a few examples known to exist in good condition.
