Maximilian of Austria was Philip's father, and served as regent during his minority (1482-1494), issuing a number of new coins for the Duchy of Brabant during this period. According to deWitte, the prescribed weight of the 1/2 noble was 3.4 grams of 24 carat gold, valued at 32 sous (72 gros).Most known examples weigh around 3.25 g.
