Comment
Likely struck in Surat, of an unusual denomination for the Later Bombay Presidency Issues (through earlier examples were stuck). This denomination was struck at the Bengal Presidency but none are recorded for Bombay which leads to the speculation that this was not an official issue. We know it is not a gold rupee as it is too heavy, and it is not like a ¼ Mohur, so unlikely to be a counterfeit. Possibly unique, date is approximate.
