Comment

Likely struck in Surat, of an unusual denomination for the Later Bombay Presidency Issues (through earlier examples were stuck). This denomination was struck at the Bengal Presidency but none are recorded for Bombay which leads to the speculation that this was not an official issue. We know it is not a gold rupee as it is too heavy, and it is not like a ¼ Mohur, so unlikely to be a counterfeit. Possibly unique, date is approximate.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the ⅛ Mohur - Alamgir II ND (1825) coin from Bombay Presidency (British India) is that it was made of gold, which was a unusual choice for a circulating coin at the time, as most coins were made of silver or copper. This coin's unique composition makes it a valuable and sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
