Interesting fact

The ½ Kreuzer coin from the Grand Duchy of Baden, minted between 1821 and 1826 during the reign of Louis I, features an interesting design element. On the obverse side, the coin bears the image of a crowned shield with the letters "L" and "B" on either side, representing Louis, the Grand Duke of Baden, and the state of Baden itself. This design was a departure from the previous coinage of the region, which had featured a more traditional depiction of a ruler's portrait. The use of the shield and initials was a nod to the growing nationalism and emphasis on state identity in the early 19th century.
