Comment
Struck during the siege against Moritz of Saxony.Interesting fact
The Siege issue coins were minted during the Magdeburg siege, a brutal conflict that lasted from 1550 to 1551, where the city of Magdeburg was besieged by the Catholic forces of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. The city was eventually captured and sacked, and the siege became notorious for its brutality and destruction. Despite this dark history, the ½ Gulden coin remains a valuable and sought-after collector's item among numismatists today.
