Comment

The half guinea was valued at 10 shillings 9 pence between 1698 and 1717, when it was devalued to 10 shillings 6 pence. These coins were struck at 89 to the pound troy, giving a standard weight of 12/89 troy ounce (64.7 grains).

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the ½ Guinea coin from the United Kingdom, minted during the reign of George I (1715-1724), is that it was originally designed to be worth 10 shillings, but due to the rising value of gold, it was revalued to 11 shillings in 1723. This made it one of the most valuable coins in circulation at the time.
